How to get started

• Contact director Jenny Peace at 905-637-4992 or newhorizonsbandburlington@gmail.com

• Choose an instrument you would like to play. You can choose from the flute, clarinet, oboe, alto sax, tenor sax, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, or percussion. If you don't know what you would like to play, Jenny will meet you at Long & McQuade, Burlington, and will guide you through trying out some of the instruments before you make a decision.

• Rent or purchase the instrument you have chosen. Long and McQuade offers a good "rent with the option to buy" program which allows you to put most of the rental money towards the purchase of the instrument. They also may have second-hand instruments to purchase. If you are unsure about making the commitment, you can rent for a month and try it out.

• Purchase the methods book: Essential Elements Volume 1 for your instrument.

• Sign up for the Beginners session from 9-10 on Tuesday mornings at the Burlington Music Centre and you are ready to go.
